FC Dallas drafts Matt Hedges of North Carolina in MLS Superdraft

FC Dallas has drafted centerback Matt Hedges from North Carolina with the 11th pick in the 2012 MLS Superdraft. With George John signing with West Ham in England the Hedges pick was a necessity to add depth to the Dallas defense.

Matt Hedges was an imposing figure in the middle of the UNC defense as they ran to the NCAA soccer title last year. His 6'4 size will provide the size needed to dominate the cross and finish game of Major League Soccer.

This could turn out to be one of the best picks in the 2012 draft as many experts feel Hedges is ready to step right in and play. Along with the recent signing of Colombian defender Hernan Pertuz, FC Dallas is clearly prepared to move on from the loss of George John.
